BLEPHEX
In New York City
Blephex is a dry eye treatment aimed at reducing inflammation along the lid margin that’s interfering with the meibomian gland’s ability to properly secrete oil. Blephex uses a special ointment composed of ingredients such as honey and tea tree oil which contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that helps treat blepharitis by cleaning up crusting along the base of the eyelashes caused by demodex mites and bacteria. The treatment takes place in office and takes less than ten minutes to complete. It is highly effective for individuals who suffer from chronic/reoccurring styes and have severe eye lid itchiness.

Who is a Candidate for Blephex ?
People suffering from demodex blepharitis and Meibomian gland dysfunction would greatly benefit from this procedure as it will help clean off layers of biofilm along the lid margin that’s causing severe irriation and inflammation in the area. The alleviation of inflammation along the lid margin will take some stress off of the oil glands and allow for them to properly secrete oil onto the tearfilm allowing for the cornea to get the nurtient’s it needs and easing any dry eye symptoms. People suffering from chronic styes would also greatly benefit from this procedure as the clearing of crusting along the eyelid margin will eliminate the breading ground of bacteria along the area that’s causing reoccurring styes.
How Blephex is Performed
Blephex is a quick non invasive in-office procedure that takes less than ten minutes to complete. After evaluation from someone apart of your eyecare team you will be given numbing eye drops for comfort and sat back to a comfortable position. You will then be instructed to look up or down depending on which lid is being worked on and your eyecare professional will use the Blephex brush to clean each individual lid. Each lid will take anywhere from 1-2 minutes depending on how much crusting is present in each area. After all four lids have been thoroughly cleaned your eye care professional will do one last evaluation to make sure all four lids have been properly cleaned and there is no evidence of crusting or biofilm along the eyelid margins.
Recovery & Aftercare
After the procedure you should expect to see improvements in dry eye and blepharitis symptoms primarily with crusting and itchiness.
Do I still need to continue doing a warm compress after the procedure along with continuing any lid hygiene routines at home?
Its recommended to continue doing any daily routine of a warm compress paired with a lid hygiene treatment to prevent any future build up of bacteria in the area along with blockages of the oil glands inside your eye lids. The use of artificial tears in combination with your at home routine will greatly minimize and dry eye symptoms especially if you’re a contact lens user.
Is there any downtime after the procedure
As Blephex is a non invasive procedure there is no associated down time or restrictions and you should be free to resume any daily activities after the treatment is done.

“I've been essentially blind my whole life and recently decided to get elective eye surgery. I unfortunately did not qualify for Lasik, but did qualify for PRK.
Dr. Rapoport was fantastic - she explained all my options in detail and was very diligent in giving me instructions pre/post operations - even when I asked twice/three times. She's always available to talk and super empathetic. I could not recommend a better eye surgeon!”

“Best eye doctor in New York! Dr. Rapoport is very personable, professional and most importantly a great doctor. Dr. Rapoport recently performed my LASIK surgery, for which she gave me clear pre and post-op instructions and made a point to check regularly on my progress. She did a great job to put my nerves at ease and walked me through the entire process. Now three weeks after the surgery I
can see better than ever with 20/20+ vision! I strongly recommend Dr. Rapoport if you are considering LASIK, or if you are simply in need of a great eye doctor.”

“I have now seen Dr. Rapoport for dry eyes, removal of papillomas around my eyes, and Lasik
surgery. My experiences with her have all been wonderful. She always takes the time to
explain everything really clearly, and my results have all been great. When I originally asked
about Lasik, she gave me a very balanced perspective on my options, which I really
appreciated. She also has a great energy about her, and she's just an overall pleasure to be
around. I have referred several friends and family to her and they've all said great things about
her as well. I can't recommend her enough.”

“After seeing Dr. Rapaport for three months I have experienced the greatest improvement for
my dry eye syndrome than I have in the past 15 years. Dr. Rapaport is very knowledgable and
caring. I am very grateful to her and her staff, in particular to Amy, who has been incredibly
helpful to me. Everyone here conducts themselves in a highly professional manner, and they
also run a tight ship in terms of timeliness. I have been seen every time without waiting any
more than 5 minutes, and this I appreciate a lot. I feel very fortunate to be a patient at this
medical practice.”

“Dr Rapoport is a skilled, knowledgeable, sincerely caring medical professional. I started
seeing her a year ago and have since moved out of state. Regardless, it’s a priority for me to
continue under her good care.
